The Millhouse Restaurant in Queenstown has been awarded the prestigious Wine Award for Excellence by US Magazine, Wine Spectator, making it one of only a handful of restaurants in New Zealand to be awarded the accolade.
The annual wine awards by influential US magazine, Wine Spectator, applauds restaurants with a wine list of over 100 that accurately match the restaurant’s food and character.
The Millhouse Manager, Paul Hignett, said the award was in recognition of the extensive wine list of exceptional wines on offer at The Millhouse and the work he and the team of chefs have dedicated to wine and food matching.
He said: “The Millhouse menu utilizes seasonal, local produce and the menu changes slightly every 2-3 weeks to reflect produce availability and seasonal freshness.”
Hignett added: “To ensure our wine list always complements the menu, we have a focus on local Central Otago and New Zealand wine that matches the tastes of Central Otago on the menu. We also have a small selection of Australian wines including Shiraz. A lot of our clients are Australian and love to enjoy a Shiraz with their meal and this adds another dimension to our wine list. We also include some French wines on the list including Syrah, Pinot Noir and of course Champagne.”
