Scott Dunn’s new North America collection features classic road trip itineraries, hand-picked coastal inns and wilderness retreats, top and tailed by vibrant city escapes, as well as taking guests off the beaten track for first-hand encounters with the diverse personalities, landscapes, food and music to get under the skin of this enthralling continent.

Highlights include riding out with real cowboys in Montana and camping in luxury under canvas in the Canadian Rockies; taking to the seas with Maine fisherman to catch lobster; hitting the surf in Hawaii; taking it slow among the bayous and plantations of Louisiana; skiing thigh-deep powder in Colorado before a night in a gourmet mountain-top hideaway; chasing the Northern Lights in the Yukon; hot air ballooning over Vermont’s fall colours and even snorkelling with narwhals amongst silent ice floes on safari-style wilderness expedition in Canada’s High Arctic.

Andrew Dunn, Scott Dunn’s founder commented, “We’re thrilled to be heading Stateside with our tailor-made offering, so our guests now have the chance to experience this exciting destination – the Scott Dunn way. It’s not all about five star hotels, but finding those hidden gems such as the small and friendly Anderson Inn on Big Sur and Takhini River Lodge in the Yukon, which offer true North American hospitality and totally unique experiences. Our specialists can recommend the best diner in the New York or lobster shack in Maine, the must-see road trip detours, arrange a classic set of wheels, book tickets on Broadway, the Toronto Maple Leafs, or the Lakers and help our guests to live out what they’ve seen on the big screen.”

A selection of Scott Dunn’s new signature USA and Canada experiences include:

Hot Springs and Spirit Bears – Pacific Yellowfin Cruise

Discover the most remote islands and magnificent untouched wilderness of British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, on board the exclusive-use charter, Pacific Yellowfin. Originally a US Army boat during the Second World War, with spells as a spy ship and research vessel, this beautiful wooden boat has been painstakingly restored and offers guests fully bespoke four or seven night adventures, led by Captain Colin. By day seek the elusive Kermode or ‘Spirit Bear’ as well as grizzlies, eagles, porpoises and coastal wolves and hike salmon streams and old growth forests. At the end of the day over a traditional dinner with the Gitga’at community discover the legends of their fascinating First Nations culture. Then drop anchor to break out the inflatable slide and dive into soothing hot springs.

Scott Dunn can arrange exclusive use charters of Pacific Yellowfin from £7,500 per person based on 8 people sharing the boat for a totally bespoke seven night itinerary on a fully inclusive basis, including return flights and transfers.

Blue Ridge to the Big Easy – A journey through America’s music lands
[member]

Discover the rich musical heritage of America from blues to bluegrass and from jazz to country. Begin in Chicago for a dose of blues, before heading for Tennessee’s Appalachian Mountains. Stomp feet to the infectious beat of bluegrass guitar pickers and duelling banjos at the local Friday-night jam in Walland and savour the celebrated home-grown ‘Foothills Cuisine’ of legendary Blackberry Farm. Drive across Tennessee to Nashville and Memphis to take in a country music special at the Grand Ole Opry and make a pilgrimage to Gracelands, before finishing at Preservation Hall the home of jazz in New Orleans’ French Quarter.

Scott Dunn’s 12-night Blue Ridge to the Big Easy journey starts at £4,350 per person based on two travelling, including two nights at The Peninsula in Chicago, three nights at Blackberry Farm, two nights at The Hermitage in Nashville, two nights at The Peabody in Memphis and three nights at Le Marais in New Orleans, with flights and car hire.

Cowgirls and Beach Boys – New York, Montana and the California Coast

Don a Stetson and live the cowboy lifestyle at the Ranch at Rock Creek in Montana. Saddle up for a morning’s horseback ride through fields of wildflowers up to an epic ridge-top view to spot deer, eagles and moose, before returning back to the ranch for a family cookout under the stars. Throw in some time in the buzz of New York and a healthy dose of pampering under the warm sunny skies of southern California at Pelican Hill and you have the perfect recipe for a family adventure.

Scott Dunn’s Cowgirls and Beach Boys 12-night adventure starts from £5,385 per adult and £5,215 per child under 12 based on a family of four including three nights at The Surrey in New York, four nights at the Ranch at Rock Creek and four nights at Pelican Hill, with flights and car hire.

Wilderness Ice Safari in Canada’s Arctic Kingdom

Experience endless days of the Arctic spring on a wilderness safari expedition to see the narwhals and polar bears of Sirmilik National Park on Baffin Island. Fly from Ottawa in a private Twin Otter bush plane over Hudson Bay before travelling across the wilderness by snowmobile and Qamutik, a traditional Inuit sledge, to base camp on the edge of the ice floes. During spring the ice floes are teeming with wildlife. With experienced Arctic guides seek polar bears, kayak down spectacular untouched fjords and for the more adventurous, snorkel with the pods of mystical tusked narwhal. These inquisitive whales often approach snorkellers, swimming to within 3 meters beneath and while on their backs to take a quick look before circling below and away. By boat see walrus, enormous bowhead whales, hike to Bylot Island’s bird cliffs with thousands of migrating birds and snowmobile to historic Inuit sites. Then returning to the warmth of the safari-style camp where your private chef prepares a delicious supper venison under the midnight sun.

Scott Dunn can arrange Arctic Kingdom Polar Bear and Narwhal Safaris from £10,950 per person including a 7-night guided safari with all meals and activities, all flights, transfers and two nights in Ottawa at the start and end of the trip.

Vail and Game Creek

Have the mountain playground of Vail, the USA’s largest ski area, to yourself with a night in an exclusive mountain-top retreat, high up in the glades of the Game Creek Bowl. Take a snowcat to the secluded luxury three-bedroom hideaway, perched on a ridge at 10,500 feet overlooking the village below, before taking in the views from the hot tub as a private chef prepares dinner. The next morning step from the front door into your skis and be the first skier of the day to carve tracks in pristine powder or creamy corduroy.

Scott Dunn offers tailor-made ski itineraries to Vail from £2,925 per person including six nights at the Arrabelle and one-night at Game Creek Chalet including British Airways flights to Denver and private airport transfers.
