Pronghorn Golf Club and Resort Welcomes Renowned Golf Instructor Tim Mahoney

Pronghorn Club & Resort, a luxury resort and golf community in Central Oregon, announced today that golf instructor Tim Mahoney has entered an agreement to lead the instructional programs through The Troon Golf Academy at Pronghorn. Mahoney, who serves as the Director of Education for Troon Golf, has taught in the national and international arena for more than 27 years and has been ranked as one of America’s “Top 100 Teachers” by Golf Magazine since 1997 and one of the “50 Greatest Teachers” by Golf Digest for several years.

“I’m thrilled to get to spend my summer at Pronghorn enhancing an already impressive and well-respected golf operation,” said Mahoney, who spends the winter season at Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ. “Pronghorn offers two of the most stunning golf courses and one of the best practice facilities I’ve ever seen.”

Mahoney’s teaching philosophies were honed working with some of America’s most well respected instructors, including Chuck Cook, Jim Flick, Peter Kostis and Paul Runyan. He’s dedicated his career to teaching amateurs and professional golfers, including Billy Mayfair, Tom Kite, Pat Hurst, Payne Stewart and former world #1 player, David Duval.[member]

“Tim’s experience and reputation perfectly complement the exceptional level of service and world-class amenities we offer our members and guests,” said Spencer Schaub, General Manager of Pronghorn Golf Club & Resort. “I’m confident his contribution to our teaching facility will further Pronghorn’s standing as one of country’s great golf destinations.”

Situated on 640 stunning acres in Central Oregon, Pronghorn Club & Resort, An Auberge Resort, features a 48-suite luxury lodge, which opened to the public in 2010, two championship golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tom Fazio, full-service spa, multiple fine dining restaurants and a variety of real estate options, including custom homes, condos and home sites. Guests and homeowners have unparalleled access to countless outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, rafting, fly-fishing on the nearby Deschutes River and skiing at Mt. Bachelor, North America’s 5th largest ski area.

Pronghorn’s many accolades include:

  • #43 in Golf Digest’s “75 Best Golf Resorts in North America” in October 2011
  • #23 (Nicklaus Course) in Golf Digest’s list of “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” in May 2011
