February 8, 2012Today Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) and Host Hotels & Resorts (NYSE: HST) announced the launch of a $65 million renovation of the historic New York Helmsley Hotel which will fly the Westin flag following the extensive re-branding initiative. Debuting in 2012, the new hotel will join its sister property, Westin New York at Times Square in the prime location of midtown Manhattan. Located just blocks away from both Grand Central Terminal and the United Nations, the hotel will continue to be an iconic New York City landmark while providing guests a premium, signature Westin experience.
The multi-million renovation includes a complete redesign of the hotel’s 774 spacious guestrooms, each boasting over 300 square feet. The hotel will offer the full suite of Westin signature amenities and services designed to inspire wellbeing in a sophisticated and elegant setting including the iconic Westin Heavenly® Bed. The estimated six-month renovation is expected to take place from January 2012 to June 2012, and rooms will remain open to accommodate guests during the conversion.
