Ruby Wedding Couple Recreate Honeymoon Magic With The Same 1972 Price Tag Of £23.39
February 2, 2012A couple from Surrey will be celebrating their 40 years of marriage this weekend by revisiting the hotel where they spent their honeymoon, but with the bonus that they will only be paying the 1972 rate for their stay.
Michael and Patricia Keating had planned their wedding for the summer of l972 but when the chance of buying a flat together came up in January that year they decided to bring their wedding forward.
Mr Keating said: “In those days it was not the done thing to live together so we were married and as it was winter and we could not afford foreign sun for our honeymoon we decided to stay closer to home and went to Hampshire.”
The newlyweds chose The Master Builder’s Hotel at Buckler’s Hard on the edge of the New Forest and headed for their stay where they ended up being snowed in and staying for three nights as they could not make their way out.
