Independents Star In UK’s Top Cinema Line Up
Special screening places come out on top with movie-goers
Awards season is upon us and to mark Oscar nominations (24 January 2012) and the forthcoming BAFTAs, Qype, Europe’s leading consumer reviews site, has revealed punters’ favourite cinemas across the UK.
Reviews posted on Qype.co.uk over the last six months have found favour with cinemas screening art house films and affording an extra special ambiance, from FACT in Liverpool to the British Film Institute (BFI) at Waterloo in London.
Top marks went to Brighton institution, the Duke of York’s Picturehouse, which received glowing accolades for its selection of films, comfy seats, extras such as cake and BYO beer and the impressive Grade II listed building.
“I actually have friends who want to get married here. Obviously they love watching films but more than that, there is no place like Duke of York,” says Qype reviewer vickybigmore.
