Hilton Worldwide Announces Travel with Purpose Twitter Promotion
December 20, 2011Hilton Worldwide wants to put the gift of giving in your hands, literally. To celebrate the holiday and the company’s recent corporate responsibility achievements, Hilton Worldwide is hosting a Twitter promotion and giving fans the chance to “give” the gift of giving.
Beginning Tuesday, December 20 and continuing through Friday, December 23, Hilton Worldwide is asking followers on Twitter to retweet daily #TravelwPurpose tweets from @HiltonWorldwide for the chance to win a $25 GlobalGiving gift card and support a charity project of their choice at www.GlobalGiving.org.
“Over the past year, our company has focused on integrating corporate responsibility into our business and leveraging our expertise in delivering great guests experiences to make a difference in the world,” said Jennifer Silberman, vice president of corporate responsibility, Hilton Worldwide. “As the year comes to an end, we are excited to provide our fans with an opportunity to give back and promote the great work being done by our partners.”
Guided by the promise of Travel with Purpose, in 2011, Hilton Worldwide established a framework for integrating and aligning corporate responsibility efforts across its brands, regions and properties, and launched new partnerships to support its social and sustainability goals.
Sustainability continued to be a key focus for Hilton Worldwide over the past year and, by the end of this month, each of the company’s more than 3,800 properties will be required to use LightStay, Hilton Worldwide’s sustainability measurement system. In 2010 alone, the system saved the company more than $74 million in reduced energy, water, carbon and waste, and Hilton Worldwide is working with new partners, including the Global Soap Project and Good360, to further reduce waste and repurpose it for community needs. Overall, these efforts and the company’s advancements in quality assurance and sustainability standards earned Hilton Worldwide and its portfolio of brands ISO 9001 certification for Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001 certification for Environmental Management Systems.
Throughout the year, Hilton Worldwide also worked with communities on a number of fronts, creating more than 50,000 jobs and raising millions for U.S. school children and victims of natural disasters, such as the Japan earthquake and tsunami and the Horn of Africa famine. The company was recognized as a ‘Best Place to Work for Hispanics’ by Hispanic Business Magazine and continued to support diverse populations and cultural initiatives by announcing a global partnership with the Special Olympics and providing U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes with career training and job placement assistance.
Throughout the Twitter campaign, each #TravelwPurpose tweet will highlight specific results or goals related to the company’s corporate responsibility priorities – follow @HiltonWorldwide on Twitter for the chance to give!
