Grand Timber Lodge Supports the 4th Annual Wounded Warriors Family Ski Week
May 4, 2011Grand Timber Lodge in Breckenridge, CO recently co-sponsored a special event that gave timeshare owners the opportunity to help in hosting a one-week ski introduction and retreat for ten seriously wounded/recovering soldiers and their families. The 4th Annual Wounded Warriors Family Ski Week took place from Sunday, April 10 through Sunday April 17, 2011. During the week, ski instruction was conducted through the world-renowned skiing expertise of the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC) staff, for persons with disabilities and special needs. These soldiers also benefited from a series of family programs titled Families Coming Together to Build Resiliency, conducted by the Aurora Mental Health Center from Denver.
The Ski Week was founded in 2008 by Vietnam veteran Bob Miller and his wife, Bonnie. The Millers, who are timeshare owners at Grand Timber Lodge, have organized a committee of ten local couples to conduct this event. These volunteers planned and raised funds for the transportation, lodging, meals and other activities for the 45 total guests from around the country.
