Along with the pristine environment of Bonaire is the constantly warm ocean temperature, which is important for divers who cannot regulate their body temperature. In addition, disabled divers often practice water therapy and other “gravity free” activities to increase strength and confidence. Divi Flamingo Beach Resort is continuously upgrading its amenities and accommodations for disabled divers and guests, including eight handicap accessible rooms and a customized dive boat.
“We want to motivate people with or without disabilities to imagine the possibilities,” stated Jim Elliot, president of Diveheart Foundation. “Divi Flamingo Resort has been providing amazing dives and experiences for disabled divers for years, and we’re happy to have their staff a part of our mission.” [/member]
